If you’re here it’s because…

…at some point you emailed me. Or you found my subscribe button somewhere. Welcome! I love that you’re here. Thank you for reading these words that I am typing as I sit next to this precious foster puppy from @barknbitches dog rescue.

Why a Substack?

Funny you should ask!

In 8th Grade I…

…won the graduation award for English and writing. My freshman year in high school, I competed in an essay competition to get out of a class I didn’t like. The next day, I showed up to said class and a bunch of kids congratulated me. “Huh? for what?”, said I. They told me I won the competition and I laughed. I didn’t believe them. I hadn’t really been trying. I was just doing something I enjoyed instead of something I didn’t.

You see, I’ve been writing since I learned how. My Mom handed me my first journal at age 5 and I haven’t stopped. Starting a Substack just felt like a natural choice. Writing is how I process life. Sometimes it’s private, in a journal. Sometimes it’s moody verse, posted as an Instagram caption to signal to a girl I’m in love with that there’s still hope for us! Sometimes it’s song lyrics, popping into my head on a hike with my dog Luna and recorded as a voice note to transcribe later. Sometimes it’s a screenplay, the making of which takes over my life and psyche for years. They’ve always been there. Words, words, words. Now I want to get more intentional about sharing them with you!

I’m super burned out from Social Media

I really want a way to share more fluidly with people who are interested in what’s going on in my world. Social media makes my ADHD symptoms so much worse. And for those on IG who follow @weepingwillowwellness or @emblaizon, you know why I’m constantly being censored. The fact that I have THREE Instagrams alone just to play the algorithm game is kinda nuts. (The third being @fermatablaize, my music channel.) I’m tired of branding myself that way, and want to slowly put more energy somewhere that feels GOOD! I want one place to share all the things I’m working on and excited to teach and share. I want a way to deliver the creations I pour myself into directly to the people who are excited to receive them, not just leave it up to IG’s metrics to decide who might happen upon them. I want one safe place where a picture of my butt won’t get me shadow banned. So, here goes Substack!

If you build it…

My dream for this newsletter is to create something always fun, sometimes spicy, ever informative and helpful. I’ll be sharing things I learn in the wellness sphere, music industry, film industry, and also musing on analogies I draw from nature, fostering animals, single parenting and more! I hope you’ll stick around and let me know what you think. And if you love it, share it with all your family, friends and archenemies!

Am I gonna get spammed all month long?

NO WAY! My goal is one main monthly newsletter offering with a second mini email check-in to remind you of anything cool happening in my world that is super time-relevant, or any stories that just can’t wait for the next installment. That’s it. Two emails a month, 24 emails per year. Sound good?

Connect with me!

When I have more offerings such as music and improv shows, film screenings, classes I’m offering, and discounts on my healing services, I’ll include that too. I welcome people from all of my different communities to connect with me here.

You can check out more healing offerings at www.weepingwillowwellness.com

Book a FREE strategy session here to meet with me and discuss joining my 12 week somatic healing program, Whole Body Communicator

Find my music anywhere you stream. Just search Fermata Blaize!

Check out my children’s book The Possum And The Bunny

And more to come!

So, you ask, “will this ever be something I have to pay for?”

NOPE! You never HAVE to. I WILL offer an extra juicy portion of this newsletter for paid subscribers. Don’t worry, all the most important info will always be above the paywall. This extra section will be for those who are just loving it and want more; More poetry, more intimate details of my life that I’m reflecting on, more connection, (more butt pics? lol..jk…maybe).

My paid subscribers will receive access to a monthly Zoom meeting where we can all hangout and try out a somatic practice, with time for Q&A. Think of this as time to receive support and connection in a super informal, learning chill sesh to dive into somatics or ask me about anything I have experience with. (CPTSD, polyamory, single parenting, naturism, music festivals and raves, gender non-conforming identity expression, film-making, music-making, scooping animal poop, lots of life experience over here!)

I sobbed into a towel, seated at the bar. It was a thing I’d done more than once…

The girl I liked SO much had ghosted. Disappeared into thin air after our bodies had intertwined, lit by candlelight. I had put in so much effort, many dates, and become smitten. It felt like romance, and then afterwards felt like a lie. So, seated at a bar, (which was actually the set for a Melissa Etheridge music video I was dancing in,) I sobbed into a towel on the phone with my boyfriend. You see, this moment perfectly encapsulates one of the
