What does it actually FEEL like to be BIG?
Pictured: a screenshot from a reel of me exploring spacious shapes at Dog Beach, SD.
This past calendar year, I dove headfirst into scaling Weeping Willow Wellness. Somehow, (perhaps unsurprisingly), I also deep dove into asking for what I wanted relationally with even more boldness. (Peep me and my daughter getting multi-hands massage from several friends, crushes and lovers at my b-day party!)
The dive spread to creating my music with even more ambition to distill this facet of creativity with further distinction.
My amazing Reiki healer, Tylynn, has offered her gentle support over the years encouraging this unfolding into taking up space with clairvoyant Reiki downloads, astrological support and other witchy wisdom.
The lesson this year that I’m reflecting back on and also calling in as I prepare to set intentions under the New Moon tomorrow night, is this:
How we do one thing is how we do everything.
How does this play out SOMATICALLY? Sheesh, I’m so glad you asked…
We Teach Our Bodies, And Our Bodies Teach Us
Somatic living can be thought of as one continuous feedback loop between our embodied experience and our minds. Our “inner narrator” or “higher self”, or any other name by which you know it, and our physical sensations inform one another back and forth like waves, creating our lived and perceived experience.
So, what do we do to practice taking up space?
We approach with curiosity, we practice, we observe, we repeat.
As I began to take up space online, writing this Substack, for example, my nervous system contracted. Remember my early article about Imposter Syndrome?
So, I noticed the constriction in my body. I tended to my nervous system by allowing time and space for a mini-collapse (a bit of rest and self-care practices). Then I explored expansive physical shapes like the one below, while repeating affirmations of my work.
I tended to both my embodied experience, and shifted my inner narrator’s dialogue. I continued to show up here on Substack with consistency, repeating the exposure therapy and physical movements for myself.
We repeat, that’s why we call it a somatic practice.
Lastly, and often most challenging for me, we go SLOWLY. We don’t expect our bodies and minds to transform overnight. If there was a magic pill for that then I (or more likely big pharma) would be charging a LOT more than a 12-week transformative coaching package!
It’s not what I usually want to hear in my business, or what clients often want to hear in their healing, because capitalism culture teaches us from a young age that faster is better.
And yet we know that healing is not linear, and the best things in life take time.
Can we quantum leap our journey with somatic practices? You bet!
And that doesn’t mean it happens overnight.
Both are true.
So, this New Moon and New Year, what intentions are you setting? I’m deepening into my practice of taking up space; in my relationships, in my art, in my business. See below :D

Creator Corner Collective
This issue, I’m so stoked to highlight Stevie Joy Leigh Guiol. Stevie and I met when she had a doula practice and helped me deliver my child into the world. She’s a colleague in the somatic world who’s work I admire greatly and an educator from whom I’ve had the privilege to learn.
Many of you have asked lately, “what the heck is SOMATICS?” I can keep writing about it in my own voice. And, I’m excited to share how Stevie describes her work in the somatic realm.
“A question I get a lot from people is “what exactly do you do in a somatic practice?”. Many are coming to understand that somatics is an umbrella term for integrating the experience of our body with our mind, psyches, and emotions. But many of us are left thinking “Okay cool… but how?”
A somatic practice is anything you do with intention, presence, and repetition.
Somatics is largely a practice of noticing. Creating conditions where you can be with the experience of your body, engage in a practice, and noticing what comes up.”
I highly recommend checking out the full article and more of Stevie’s writing HERE.
Stevie’s spaceholding as a practitioner in any capacity I have experienced it is nourishing and I have referred clients to them over the years when I felt they might be a better fit.
Somatic therapy looks and feels different from practitioner to practitioner and client to client. The through-line is building consistent patterns of physical experience paired with observation of the body-mind connection, often structured around facilitating a safe, optimal shift in the body’s reaction to a trigger, a trauma, or shifting the mind’s perception of an event or ongoing experience.
Make sense? If not, come book a free called with me to talk about my 1:1 somatic program, Whole Body Communicator and learn more.

BIG NEWS!!!
Starting in 2025, all PAID SUBSCRIBERS will receive digital installments of my nude oracle deck, Naked Truth with each newsletter. This is why the subscription fee has gone up slightly, as this undertaking is going to be more labor intensive than anything I’ve offered to paid subscribers before. I hope you will join in and participate.
Here is an emotive, fairly tame outtake from the deck.
The full printed deck will be mailed to everyone who takes this journey with me from start to finish as a thank you gift.
Additionally, I will occasionally still offer pop-up zoom hangs to my paid subscribers to come on, pull a card, and try a somatic practice from the associated booklet.
I’m so EXCITED to be offering this exciting view into this creative journey of completing my oracle deck and bringing you with me!
In the meantime, please enjoy this photo of free-spirited nude dance with some of my friends on retreat in Mazunte.
